Hip hop legends Cypress Hill, headliners of Sea Star Festival 2022, have released a single, “Open Ya Mind,” announcing a new studio album planned for next year. The excellent old-school rap track utilizes Cypress’ distinct sound, this time produced by Black Milk, and deals with the US’s confusing, ambiguous stance on cannabis legalization.
With new music, B-Real, Sen Dog, DJ Muggs, and Eric Bobo are launching a host of activities planned for the coming months. The single “Open Ya Mind” introduces the upcoming tenth studio album, the successor to the acclaimed release “Elephants on Acid.” The album’s release is planned for the beginning of 2022, when the band will finally embark on a major world tour, including a performance at the Sea Star in Umag, their only concert in the region. The premiere of the documentary “Hits from the Bong” is also planned for next year. The year 2021 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of the band’s legendary debut album “Cypress Hill,” which has had an expanded reissue with several new song versions and remixes of classics such as “How I Could Just Kill a Man” and “Hand on the Pump.” The anniversary also inspired the release of a comic about the group entitled “Cypress Hill: Tres Equis.”
Cypress Hill, Amelie Lens, Dubioza Kolektiv, Meduza, Vojko V, and Umek are among the artists to perform on 27th and 28th May 2022 in the Umag lagoon Stella Maris. Alongside them, Kuku$, Buč Kesidi, Farrago, Tijana T, Insolate, Buntai, Marcel, Andrea Ljekaj, Bronski, DJ Gumja, and TRIAD have also confirmed their attendance, while more headliners will be announced in the coming months. Sea Star will once again move the beginning of the tourist season to the end of May. The fantastic artists mentioned above, and others who have had Umag marked on their maps for a while, will perform on the festival’s many stages located just a few meters from the sea.
