Sea Star, the festival that marks the beginning of summer, will have its fourth edition on 27th and 28th May 2022, in Umag, Croatia. The EXIT team behind the organisation has confirmed most of the exceptional line-up, led by hip-hop gods Cypress Hill, as well as Amelie Lens and Meduza. They are accompanied by a tremendous international list of performers, including Umek, Farrago, Dubioza Kolektiv, Tijana T, Insolate and many others, while more announcements are expected. After a two-year break, Sea Star returns to the global festival calendar to gather festivalgoers at the first major gathering of the season on several stages located a few meters from the Adriatic Sea, in the beautiful lagoon of the Stella Maris resort.

2022 Edition

The main programme of the Sea Star festival takes place on Friday, 27th and Saturday 28th May, on a dozen festival stages and zones. Performances begin at 8 p.m. and last until 5 p.m. A Welcome party is scheduled for Thursday, 26th May, as a kind of warm-up, while Sunday is reserved for the Closing party, which will end around noon.

The festival line-up features more than 20 artists, the most famous of which is hip-hop royalty Cypress Hill, for whom this is the only confirmed performance in this part of Europe so far. One of the leading global techno performers, Belgian Amelie Lens, is in charge of the electronic vibe of Sea Star, divided into two currents — commercial and rave. International hits will be provided by the world-famous production team Meduza. Sea Star’s techno line-up will feature one of the most successful Slovenian electronic music artists — Umek, as well as Farrago, Tijana T, and Insolate. The rest of the line-up consists of the biggest regional trap, electronic, and rock stars, such as Dubioza Kolektiv, Vojko V, Buč Kesidi, Kuku$, and many others.

Location

The home of the Sea Star Festival is Umag, the westernmost city on the Croatian coast with a Mediterranean climate and narrow, winding streets. Umag is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Istria, the Croatian region in which it is located. It is only 12 km away from the Slovenian border and 35 km from the Italian one.

The festival takes place in the beautiful resort of Stella Maris, with a capacity of about 20–25,000 visitors. The two main stages, Tesla Stage and Nautilus Arena, located inside the ATP stadium, are among the most technically advanced in this part of Europe because they are run by the same production team in charge of the world-famous EXIT Dance Arena.

Festival History

Launched in 2017, the Sea Star Festival has been visited by more than 125,000 people from more than 35 countries. It has featured more than 90 international and regional performers, including superstars like The Prodigy, Wu-Tang Clan, Fatboy Slim, Robin Schulz, Dmitri Vegas & Like Mike, Paul Kalkbrenner, Nina Kraviz, Sven Vath, Hurts, Paul van Dyk, Ofenbach, Mahmut Orhan and many others. The festival received the Croatian Music Ambassador Award for the Best New Festival in 2017 and entered the top 10 shortlist for the Best New Festival and Best Medium Festival at the European Festival Awards.

Sea Star is organised by the team that introduced the entry protocols at EXIT in Novi Sad this July, thanks to which there was no spread of COVID-19 at the festival. Any potential protocols for entering Sea Star will be introduced and explained in a timely manner if the epidemiological situation requires it.
