Your Guide to Reusable REMEDIES Cups

What are the cups made of?
The cups are made from bio-based, renewable materials.

They are:

  • dishwasher safe and reusable 100+ times
  • recyclable
  • industrially compostable (if they can’t be recycled)
  • safe for drinks (EU compliant)
  • a sustainable – low-impact alternative to single-use plastic

What drinks are served in them?
Beer and water (0.5L cups).

Where do I get a cup?
You get it at the bar when you order your drink.

How does the deposit work?
When you get your cup, a 1.5 EUR deposit is charged to your festival card. The festival is cashless, so you can top up your card and use it throughout the venue. Once you return the cup, the deposit is refunded directly to your card.

How does using the cup actually work?
 Here’s the flow:

  • You order a drink and get it in a reusable cup (deposit is taken from your festival card)
  • Once you finish your drink, you return the cup at the bar
  • You’ll get your next drink in a clean cup, not the same one

If you’re done drinking, just return the cup and your deposit is refunded to your card.
Cups are not meant to be kept or taken out of the festival area, and you can’t bring them back the next day.

What’s the point of all this?
Instead of exhausting natural resources, we extend their use and value:
collected → washed → reused

Less waste, plastic-free experience, and sustainable lifestyles.

How are the cups cleaned?
The washing system uses plant-based power to naturally purify water. After use, cups are collected and processed through this system where they are thoroughly washed and sanitized before re-entering circulation. This ensures every new drink is served in a clean, safe cup while keeping the entire system circular and waste-free.

Can I keep the same cup for the whole festival?
No — cups are part of a return-and-reuse system. Each time you get a new drink, you receive a clean cup after returning the previous one.

How do I return the cup?
Just bring it back to any bar and your deposit is refunded to your festival card.

What if I lose the cup?
Then the deposit isn’t refunded. The system only works if cups come back into circulation.

What if I damage or break the cup?
You don’t get the deposit back.

Why does this matter?
Because it only works if everyone plays along. By returning and reusing cups, you’re directly helping cut down plastic waste.

What’s in it for me?

  • Less waste, less mess
  • An environmentally conscious festival vibe
  • You’re part of a collective commitment to protecting natural resources.
  • And you get your deposit back

Cups are a part of Plug-and-Play 2 Zero-Waste system. What does that mean?
It’s the system that replaces single-use plastic cups with reusable ones. Instead of throwing them away, cups are collected, washed, and reused on-site throughout the festival — all in one circular loop, with way less waste. The system is part of REMEDIES, a HORIZON EU project tackling (micro)plastic pollution and working to protect marine ecosystems through innovative solutions.
