Riding the wave of his new album \u201cKingmaker\u201d, Xzibit is arriving from the American West Coast to the Adriatic to open the summer with a performance at the first festival of the season. The rapper\u2019s discography includes some of the biggest hip-hop hits that defined the sound of the 2000s, racking up tens of millions of streams across digital platforms. Xzibit\u2019s importance in rap culture is further confirmed by his star-studded collaborations and friendships with icons such as Dr. Dre, Eminem and Snoop Dogg, and this May he will bring those hits to the Stella Maris lagoon in Umag, performing on the Tesla Main Stage at the eighth edition of Sea Star Festival.<\/b><\/p>\n
Although<\/span> Xzibit<\/b> also marked the start of the millennium as a television personality \u2013 most notably as the host of MTV\u2019s show <\/span>Pimp My Ride<\/b> \u2013 he is above all <\/span>one of hip-hop\u2019s most prominent figures<\/b>, whose lyrics and beats became <\/span>a symbol of the early 21st century<\/b>. The golden era of MTV and PlayStation, and according to many the golden era of hip-hop, was defined by the hits and collaborations of the brilliant X-to-the-Z. He was embraced by the biggest stars of the time, including Destiny\u2019s Child, and although his discography includes dozens of tracks that helped redefine hip-hop music, five standout hits and five major collaborations hold a special place in his catalogue.<\/span><\/p>\n Exactly 30 years ago, Xzibit introduced himself with the album <\/span>\u201cAt The Speed Of Life\u201d<\/b><\/a>, which featured the standout single <\/span>\u201cPaparazzi\u201d<\/b><\/a>, still one of the biggest hip-hop hits today. In addition to entering the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the time, the song\u2019s instrumental was featured in the <\/span>soundtrack of a cult scene<\/b><\/a> from <\/span>The Sopranos<\/b>, in which the most famous mafia family appoints Junior as the new boss. Among Xzibit\u2019s top five hits is also the unavoidable<\/span> \u201cWhat U See Is What U Get\u201d<\/b><\/a> from his second album <\/span>\u201c40 Dayz & 40 Nightz\u201d<\/b><\/a> (1998), accompanied by a cinematic storyline portrayed in its acclaimed music video.<\/span><\/p>\n His number one hit, however \u2013 with more than 127 million streams on Spotify alone \u2013 remains <\/span>\u201cX\u201d<\/b><\/a>, the single from his third studio album <\/span>\u201cRestless\u201d<\/b>.<\/span><\/a> The track was released in 2000 on the first album produced by his longtime mentor and collaborator, the incomparable <\/span>Dr. Dre<\/b>. Through this collaboration with the legendary producer and rapper, Xzibit created his own sound and found his formula for success. Another hit from the album is <\/span>\u201cGet Your Walk On\u201d<\/b><\/a>, released as its third single, delivering unstoppable flow and authentic, raw lyrics depicting the harsh reality of American street culture. The 2004 album <\/span>\u201cWeapons of Mass Destruction\u201d<\/b><\/a> was released in two versions \u2013 Clean and Explicit \u2013 and produced the hit <\/span>\u201cHey Now (Mean Muggin)\u201d<\/b><\/a>, featuring American R&B singer <\/span>Keri Hilson<\/b>. Along with other successful tracks, the song was also included on the compilation <\/span>\u201cThe Greatest\u201d<\/b><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n Over more than three decades, Xzibit has collaborated with some of hip-hop\u2019s biggest names. Topping the list of his <\/span>five greatest collaborations<\/b> is undoubtedly <\/span>\u201cMy Name\u201d<\/b><\/a>, which he wrote and performs together with <\/span>Eminem <\/b>and <\/span>Nate Dogg<\/b>. His friendship and collaborations with one of the greatest of all time \u2013 Eminem \u2013 spanned many years, with one of the most beloved results being the hit <\/span>\u201cDon\u2019t Approach Me\u201d<\/b><\/a>, released on Xzibit\u2019s second studio album. Slim Shady and Mr. X-to-the-Z captured early-2000s hip-hop audiences with their unstoppable flow and powerful lyrics. <\/span>Snoop Dogg<\/b> has described working with Xzibit as destined and magical. They joined forces on the track <\/span>\u201cBitch Please\u201d<\/b><\/a> from Snoop\u2019s album <\/span>\u201cNo Limit Top Dogg\u201d<\/b><\/a>, as well as <\/span>\u201cBitch Please II\u201d<\/b><\/a>, which brought together a powerhouse lineup: Xzibit, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Nate Dogg. The track was released on Eminem\u2019s second album. Another widely popular collaboration is <\/span>\u201cMultiply\u201d<\/b><\/a>, whose chorus was performed by <\/span>Nate Dogg<\/b>, who during his lifetime earned the nickname <\/span>King of Hooks<\/i><\/b> thanks to his talent and legendary guest appearances.<\/span><\/p>\n Xzibit<\/b> further boosts the star-studded lineup of the eighth edition of Sea Star Festival, which will take place in the magical Stella Maris lagoon in Umag. Joining him in opening the summer is DJ deity <\/span>Boris Brejcha<\/b>, while a special artistic performance titled <\/span>Emergency EXIT<\/b> will also take place \u2013 created in collaboration between EXIT, Boom and the renowned European theatre troupe <\/span>La Fura dels Baus<\/b>, known for their role in the Olympic Games opening ceremony. The music for the performance will be composed by the highly respected electronic artist <\/span>Satori<\/b>. Also performing on the festival\u2019s Main Stage are New York DJ star <\/span>Layla Benitez<\/b>, techno heroines <\/span>KI\/KI <\/b>and <\/span>BIIA<\/b>, and Serbian electronic wunderkind <\/span>Lanna<\/b>. The unmissable hip-hop Gang returns to the Lagoon this year as well \u2013 <\/span>Amna<\/b>, <\/span>Gr\u0161e<\/b>, <\/span>Hiljson Mandela<\/b>, <\/span>Prti Bee Gee<\/b>, <\/span>TBF<\/b>, <\/span>Blackout Showcase w\/ Phat Phillie<\/b>, <\/span>Bore Balboa<\/b>, <\/span>Macha Ravel<\/b>, <\/span>TNG<\/b>, <\/span>Bejbe<\/b>, <\/span>Noti Limun<\/b> and <\/span>Tibor<\/b> will make sure hard beats and flawless flow fill both the Main Stage and Nautilus Arena.
