Pioneers of big beat and the synonym for rave culture – The Prodigy – are coming to the Sea Star Festival in Croatia! They will perform their hits at the largest festival stage in May, as well as the songs from their last album, “The day is my enemy”, which hit number one at the UK album list. This is the sixth time in a row that The Prodigy have achieved this feat, which can be compared only to The Beatles.
The Essex trio is known for their energetic performances that leave no time for rest, as well as for the incredible connection between Keith Flint and Maxim and the audience, or, as Maxim calls them, “his Voodoo people”. At the Sea Star Festival, the fans will have the opportunity to experience the unique connection that The Prodigy has with this region, to which they always, with good reason, come back to.
Their “Music for the Jilted Generation” album, published in 1995, dominated the planet and is now considered one of the best albums of the decade. “Breathe”, “Invaders Must Die”, and “Firestarter” are just some of the songs of this electronic giants that can be recognized after but a few beats.
Keith, Maxim, and Liam Howlett are getting more and more vocal about their retirement, but they relentlessly perform all around the world, from Australia to America, on stadiums, in arenas and in the largest concert halls from Japan to Argentina. Now they have chosen the Sea Star Festival as one of their destinations, as there is no better way to present the festival to the world and start the EXIT Summer of Love than with a line-up that includes the legends – The Prodigy.
Fantastic British trio, Modestep, conquered the world with their performances, combining dubstep with drum’n’bass, rock and grime. The “London Road” album from 2015 marks one of the most important bass albums in UK in the last few years. They are bringing a frenetic live performance to Umag, which saw them tour the greatest festival stages, from Coachella, Glastonbury and Rock Am Ring to, of course, EXIT Main Stage, conquered last July.
Regional stars, Dubioza Kolektiv, and their recognizable fusion of hip-hop, ska and reggae, with elements of traditional music will be coming to the Sea Star Festival in Umag. They will be one of the regional stars of the new Mediterranean branch of the EXIT Summer of Love, which we start in style!
Dubioza Kolektiv songs are usually filled with provocative lyrics and their music is a critique of the system. They gained popularity with their explosive performances which gave them the reputation of one of the greatest concert atrractions in the region.
Since their first album, “Dubioza Kolektiv“, then “Firma illegal“ in 2008, until the “Happy Machine“ in 2016, Dubioza always created great feedback in the audience, and after they started publishing songs in English, an army of new fans recognized their unique energy. Recognizable musical style and characteristically black-and-yellow color combination of the band, as well as the distinct contrast between the vocals of Almir Hasanbegović and Adis Zvekić, helped this band reach the musical summit of the regional, as well as European music scene. People who worked with them include the legendary Manu Chao, Benji Webbe and Skindred.
They received numerous awards, including MTV Adria Best Act and MTV MTV Adria Video Play Diamond Award, and with every new album their domination grows, while they stay faithful in their relaxed relationship with their audience.
One of the most respected alternative bands in Croatia, Urban&4, is coming to the Sea Star Festival in Umag! Damir Urban, the frontman, is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable Croatian performers and best known alternative music names in the region. His performances are always anticipated with excitement, because he is the perfect example of a performer who understands the essence of concerts and the live connection with fans.
Their brand of melodic rock sounds perfect live, while the charismatic frontman teleports fans into his magical world filmed with well-known songs, such as “Budi moja voda“, “Mjesto za mene“, and the faster, funk-inspired “Magnet“.
Although they are primarily marked as alternative music, Urban&4 seamlessly whirl through many genres, which makes every album sound different, while staying faithful to their authentic sound.
The last album, “Mamut“, and the single, “Sutra ćemo pričati“, have made a mark in Croatia and the region, receiving positive critiques, and at the Sea Start Festival they will share some of their timeless magic.
Paul Kalkbrenner, the Berliner, is beloved by fans because he remained an incredibly positive guy, with both feet on the ground, even after seven albums and over two million Facebook fans! His great hit, “Sky & Sand”, held the first position on German top lists for the record-breaking 129 weeks, and the film “Berlin Calling”, where he is the main character, was shown in the Berlin Central cinema for an unprecedented 145 weeks! Two years ago he signed a contract with Sony and gained access to their immense catalogue.
First sample was “White rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane, while his remix of “You Want It Darker” from Leonard Cohen’s last album got highest marks from rock critics. Many of his colleagues get vertigo when you mention his incredible feats such as 125,000 sold tickets, and the federal government of Germany invited him to perform in 2014 at Brandenburg gates, as part of the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Kalkbrenner’s performance that day gathered half a million people, setting the record for electronic music that will remain untouchable for even the greatest bands of today. Fans, prepare football shirts for him, because he loves those!
Fatboy Slim had his first gig in Croatia on May 28th, 2010 in the sold out Stella Maris, and the next one will finish on May 28th, 2017, at the exactly same location and even more people in the audience! The seventh anniversary will be sold out with his ultimate slogan “Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat”, and many other hits such as “The Rockafeller Skank”, “Right Here, Right Now” and many others.
His music has permeated all the pores of pop culture, and after a three-decade career, Norman Cook is still a headliner at the greatest festivals and attracts audiences from the EDM specter as well as the fans of underground festivals, such as last year’s Sonar or this year’s Melt! True charisma and endless, superpositive energy could have been seen in the special edition of Boiler Room, where else but at his native Brighton Beach, the location where he once performed in front of a quarter million fans, setting the eternal record for a beach party!
Electronic warriors, Pendulum, grabbed the world by expanding genre borders, from drum’n’bass over pumping house to electro rock! Band members put Pendulum on pause in 2013 in order to dedicated themselves to new projects, Knife Party being one of them, however, constant fan queries resulted in a return album and tour in 2017! They are coming to Sea Star in their furious DJ format, an ideal choice for Umag festival, the only real way to experience the overflow of energy seen at two EXIT festivals, comparable only to The Prodigy’s performances at EXIT events. It is no wonder that these Australians are the ones behind the best known Prodigy remix, the one for “Voodoo People” from 2005!
